The biggest passenger vessel ever built was launched yesterday from Helsinki and it is heading to Port Everglades, Florida, if it makes it under the Great Belt Bridge without any problems. It is the Royal Carribean's Oasis of the Seas and it is forty percent larger than the next largest existing cruise ship. It is 20 stories high, holds 8,400 people, and the construction cost was 1.5 billion dollars. Obviously, the idea was conceived before the economic crisis began which has hit the cruise industry hard. This just might be the best symbol, yet, to represent the pinnacle of our credit bubble. If only they'd stop comparing it to the Titanic - it's five times larger than the Titanic, as that makes us all a bit uneasy.
Their website is tracking the journey to Florida and has videos, photos, and information galore and is not to be missed. Now, several jokes come to mind here as related to this economy, Florida's housing crisis needing solutions, and stock shorting tips, but I will leave those details to the imagination of the reader.

Oh!
That's just amazing! It's like a moving (or better to say sailing) city.
Can somebody tell me whether there is a travel agency in Toronto providing cruises with this Oasis?
Kalpa, Thank you for this interesting article.
